The Syrian army’s high command announced early in the day that it’s air defense units have shot down an Intruding Israeli fighter jet and hit another. The army said four Israeli jets breached the country’s airspace early morning and targeted the army’s positions in Palmyra.
Israeli warplanes penetrated our airspace at 2:40 a.m. (0040 GMT) via Lebanese territory and hit a military target on the way to Palmyra, read the statement. Our air defense engaged them and shot down one warplane over occupied territory, hit another one, and forced the rest to flee.
This is not the first time Israeli air force has violated the Arab country’s airspace, on many occasion in the past, Israeli jets crossed into the Syrian airspace and conducted airstrikes against SAA positions. In one similar attack in the Syrian town of Quneitra, Israel targeted a Hizbullah convoy killing Jihad Mughniye, the son of late Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniye.
Israel has been assisting the terror groups inside Syria including Daesh and AL-Nusra front since the deadly conflict started back in 2011. The Zionist regime has been assisting the takfiri outfits through weapons, medical assistance and air support.
Israeli air force breaches the airspace of it’s neighboring Arab countries with impunity, and almost on a daily basis. Whether it be Lebanon, Palestine or Syria, Israel has been violating their air space in the breach of international law.
In an another statement, SAA slammed Tel Aviv for it’s continuous support for Daesh and other terror groups.
Israel’s aerial assaults are a desperate attempt to raise their (Daesh terrorists’) deteriorating morale and divert attention away from the victories which Syrian Arab Army is making in the face of the terrorist organizations, the statement read.
